Auto-catalysts are used in vehicles to reduce both fuel consumption and the release of chemical gasses. Depending on the type of vehicle, auto-catalysts capture varying amounts of precious metals, namely platinum, palladium and rhodium, in order to release a cleaner exhaust gas. There are 2 types of auto-catalysts, ceramic and metallic, of which ceramic catalysts are used predominantly with a share of 95% . Evciler has more than 15 years experience in collecting and sorting every kind of scrapped and used auto-catalysts. The company cooperates with European organizations in order to recycle and extract precious metals from the 1,500-2,000 tons/year (average) of parts it collects from Turkey and 40 other countries. In order to facilitate and shorten the smeltering process for scrapped and used auto-catalysts, Evciler plans to invest in a decomposition-seperation facility as the most important and value adding step in their domestic process.
